Together with our partner menonthemoon we designed the website of the Vienna Burgtheater. The declared goal was to intensify and redefine the (digital) relationship between the theatre and its visitors. In the first step, the existing typography-heavy corporate identity was interpreted in a light, elegant way for the digital channels, with a special focus on full "responsiveness" - optimised viewing and interaction from desktop to mobile phones. The high information density was structured more clearly and the user guidance was optimised. In terms of content, the focus is on the complex programme of performances at the various venues: it can be adapted to the user's interests via filters; a booking function and a ticket availability display allow immediate interaction and tempt users directly to buy tickets. The individual detailed pages of the performances offer numerous opportunities to obtain comprehensive, multimedia information even before a visit to the theatre. In the new "Open Castle" programme section, visitors can literally click together their own programme. The relaunch of the site was a first step: in the future, a deeper integration of ticket sales with a newly designed user experience and further possibilities of personalisation and customer relation management are planned.
