Next Level Opera

    • Together with the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), NOUS has developed a new digital brand: Staatsoperlive.com first went on air in 2013 and has expanded the scope of the analogue auditorium of one of the most famous opera houses in the world to include the digital realm. The aim of the project was to create an entirely original dimension from which to reach new customers: independent of time or place, opera lovers can now access performances by the Vienna State Opera. In addition to the new brand, an extensive live and on- demand portal were developed, which push the boundaries of technical possibilities: the platform offers a unique live streaming experience in Full HD or in 4K Ultra HD image quality with second screen apps to read subtitles or follow the score. Users are offered two livestreams – one front-on view of the whole stage and one live-edited opera film – as well as an extensive on-demand archive. Furthermore, the project also shows operas, ballets, and concerts in top quality on smart TVs and mobile devices for the first time. The team’s main focus was on guaranteeing excellent sound and image quality to recreate the exclusivity of a real visit to the opera.
